Teaching

I strongly believe in the role of a teacher-scholar: in exchange for the freedom of conducting research in mathematics, I share my knowledge and understanding of this deep subject with future generations of mathematicians, scientists and engineers. This exchange forms the basis of my social contract, so to speak. My teaching philosophy, influenced by the rigor of the French education I received and the flexibility of the north american system, both in the US and Canada I have worked within, emphasizes the emergence of skill from understanding, with a conceptual focus. I love to contextualize my teaching with history, philosophy, and my understanding of where the subject goes from the particular scope of a course to the larger mathematical and scientific picture.

In the process of my courses, I often develop some notes for students. I post some examples here. I hold the copyright rights for all the notes and videos listed on this page. Reproduction and redistribution is not allowed.

In addition, during the COVID experiments, I posted videos on a on linear algebra and on C*-algebras, which you are welcome to check.

Conferences

Conferences and seminars are a principal means to disseminate my research results. My favorite opportunity was to give a mini-course at the Hausdorff institute of Mathematics (in the Lipschitz lecture Hall :)) on quantum metric spaces, which .
